Introduction to my College of Cooperatives

At this moment, I'm actually a student at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines enrolled at one of the most unique course in this country i believe many of other people out there still don't  know. It is named Bachelor in Cooperatives. This course is intended to improve the cooperativism and its movement to our country. Cooperatives, just to make you familiar, is a type of business organization which the owners are the members. Unlike corporation, members have the full capacity and power to actually manage the goals and objectives of the organization which is to meet the needs of the members.

The existence of this type of the organization were supported by the government through the creation and implementation of a code to cooperatives called Cooperatives Code of the Philippines  and were revised last 2008 and known now as "Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008"

For other details I will use an article posted in this website: http://www.pup.edu.ph/cc/ and I quoted "As spelled out in its 1989 vision-mission statement and carried through in the recrafting of the  statements in the years that followed, the College has maintained its core commitment to provide relevant and continuing education that strengthens the development of cooperative organizations, promotes cooperativism among the masses, and institutionalizes social discipline and self reliance. Central to the success of its academic programs is the passionate commitment of its faculty on fleshing out the research and extension services they collectively undertake.

Our College is an economic empowerment support structure. It is the Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ response to the clamor to professionalize the operations and management of cooperatives in the Philippines following the historic EDSA Revolt of 1986 and the enactment of the cooperatives’ role in the Philippine Constitution. In 1989, the then visionary president of the University Dr. Nemesio E. Prudente, blazed a trail in the creation of the Institute of Cooperatives as an academic unit.

The Institute metamorphosed into the College of Cooperatives in 2006. As a college, it faces the challenge of its dream—to be a Center of Excellence in Cooperative Education. This is a long-shot job. This is not an impossible dream, given the mindset that permeates the organization, the achievements of our alumni in diverse fields and positions of leadership, our partnership with the cooperative, government and non-government sectors, and our faculty’s vision to create a world that is very much alive through a cooperative enterprise" unquoted

And so, for those who are looking for a course, why not try my course and enjoy the privilege of becoming a cooperator!

Reaction on the Vizconde Massacre Case

Recently, our country the Philippines were shaken because of the final decision that the Supreme Court did. It is the acquittal of the detained suspects which are  Hubert Webb, Peter Estrada, Hospicio Fernandez, Michael Gatchalian, Antonio Lejano II and Miguel Rodriguez. The primarily reason for this event was because of insufficient evidence analyzed and considered in the case. It is insufficient because of found inconsistency to the testimony of Jessica Alfaro who was the star witnesses of the case.

My reaction: I was sad and happy about the case. Happy because it is actually a very good Christmas present to the family of the suspects that they can have the presence of them since they are now acquitted. Sad because it only means that it is another great pain received by Mr. Vizconde. It is also mean that if the suspects acquitted are really innocent, the real criminals are just somewhere and they are FREE for almost a two decade from now.

Recommendation: It is now then a great challenge to our government to really do their best to extent their responsibilities and power to provide the appropriate justice to the family of Vizconde. Their must be also a requirement to review our criminal justice system in the Philippines. I hope the legislative can do something about it and the most important thing here NBI must learn from this event especially when doing investigation. The evidences are important facts to any case and so proper management are important to apply.

Last sayings: I challenge people who are responsible in destroying the evidence of this case. How DARE you to DESTROY the chance of giving the PROPER justice to the VIZCONDE family.

Saying for this issue: (this is for the real criminals) WHAT COMES AROUND GOES AROUND...
